Metro Bus Service at St. Cloud State University (SCSU)

Metro Bus University Services provide many bus options for students and employees of St. Cloud State University seven days a week, early mornings and until after 2 AM. Metro Bus fixed routes, including University and Campus Clippers, Husky Shuttle, Sundowner and Late Nite are free to SCSU students and employees through the U-Pass Free Ride Program by simply using your ID. 

Metro Bus service hub is located at the Miller Learning Resources Center.  Clicking on the illustration below opens a map of the Metro Bus stop at the Miller LRC.

 

 Our main bus stop area comprised of two sheltered stops is located on the south side of the Miller Learning Resources Center on 7th Street South. 

Here's What's New at SCSU:

Routes that serve the SCSU Campus: 

University   

The University route connects the SCSU campus with the rest of the Metro Bus's general public fixed route system seven days a week at the Metro Bus Transit Center in downtown St. Cloud. 

Campus Clipper Northeast

Campus Clipper West 

The Campus Clipper routes hub out of the Miller Learning Resources Center (LRC) on the SCSU campus Monday through Friday during fall and spring semesters providing connections to major student housing areas throughout St. Cloud and Waite Park. 

Husky Shuttle 

The Husky Shuttle runs regular daytime hours every 10 minutes Monday - Friday and extended nighttime hours every 20 minutes Sunday - Thursday providing direct connections from the Q and K commuter parking lots to the heart of the SCSU campus. The Husky Shuttle runs until 2:20 a.m. Sunday - Thursday nights and starts up at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.  The main K Lot pick up location is the Husky Hub on 3rd Avenue south of the National Hockey Center.  Clicking the illustration to the right opens a map to the Husky Hub located at 3rd Avenue & 14th Street South.

Sundowner 

The Sundowner runs seven nights a week during fall and spring semesters and services a limited area surrounding campus and across the river departing from the Miller Learning Resources Center. The Sundowner is free to all SCSU students and employees with your ID.  Friday and Saturday nights, the Sundowner provides direct service every 20 minutes to K and Q lots for students to get to their cars. Two evening departures seven nights a week cross Highway 10 to areas along 15th Avenue SE & E. St. Germain to Cedar Square Apts. at 11:45 p.m. and 12:15 a.m. 

Late Nite 

Late Nite service changes for Fall Semester 2009.

Late Nite routes operate Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights starting at 10:15 p.m.  For Fall 2009 with later and more frequent departures from downtown. 

Late Nite West route has been eliminated for 2009/10 school year so increased service could be added to the South and East routes. 

Late Nite South starts at 10:20 p.m. and runs every 15 minutes until 2:47 a.m. 

Late Nite East starts at 10:15 p.m. and runs every half-hour until 2:45 a.m. 

Fall and Spring Semester Late Nite operating calendar is shown to the left. 

Late Nite routes provide safe and convenient late night transportation connecting campus to downtown and to some of the highest density student housing areas primarily along current Clipper Southeast and South routes. 

The service is paid for 100% by students on a credit hour fee.  SCSU students and employees ride free like all other Metro Bus routes by swiping their ID. ID's are required for the free ride. All other riders pay general public fares.  

Schedules can be downloaded here or picked up at Atwood Center, on any Metro Bus, or the Metro Bus Transit Center downtown.

Metro Bus Service at St. Cloud Technical College (SCTC)

Metro Bus operates four routes that directly serve the SCTC campus seven days a week for students, employees and visitors.  Waite Park, Pantown, North Side and Southwest routes serve SCTC.  SCTC students are eligible to ride all Metro Bus routes through the U-Pass Free Ride Program by obtaining a pass through the Book Stop on the SCTC campus.

Metro Bus Service at Minnesota School of Business (MSB)

Metro Bus service is available to the MSB campus by the West Side route seven days a week for students, employees and visitors.  MSB students are eligible to ride all Metro Bus routes through the U-Pass Free Ride Program by obtaining a pass through the MSB administration office.

SCSU, SCTC & MSB Students Ride Free

Free Ride LogoRide Free All Year Long Seven-Days-A-Week with the U-Pass Free Ride Program!

SCSU and SCTC students currently enrolled and participating in the student activity fee program and SCSU employees and currently enrolled MSB students can ride any Metro Bus route all year for free by swiping their current I.D. or pass through the farebox. The Metro Bus U-Pass Free Ride program allows SCSU, SCTC and MSB students and SCSU employees to have unlimited fixed route bus service throughout the four city (St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids, Sartell and Waite Park) area to campus.

The U-Pass Free Ride program is paid for by the administrations and students of SCSU, SCTC, MSB administration, and Metro Bus. Fraudulent use of I.D.’s will be prosecuted. U-Pass Free Ride does not apply to Dial-a-Ride. 

Northstar Link Park and Ride stop added from SCSU

Campus Clipper Northeast provides additional connection

Effective Monday, January 18, service to Northstar Link park & ride lot on Highway 10 from SCSU Miller Learning Resource Center has been added via the 5:15 p.m. Campus Clipper Northeast. By request, riders can let the driver know they would like to be dropped off at the Northstar Link park and ride lot. The Campus Clipper Northeast route will reach the park and ride lot at approximately 5:22 p.m. for the 5:32 p.m. Northstar Link bus departure to Big Lake.

SCSU Routes Operating Times

Campus Clipper, Husky Shuttle, Sundowner and Late Nite routes operate only fall and spring semesters.  These routes do not operate when classes are not in session (except during final exams), New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day.  Operating calendars can be found on all SCSU routes schedules.
