Metro Bus Service at St. Cloud State University (SCSU)

Our main bus stop area, comprised of two sheltered stops, is located on the south side of the Miller Learning Resources Center on 7th Street South. Clicking on the illustration below opens a map of the Metro Bus stop at the Miller LRC.

 • Connecting SCSU to the rest of the fixed route bus system, the University Route is available seven days a week. It travels from the area near campus to the Transit Center in downtown St. Cloud.

Traveling between SCSU and popular off-campus student housing, the Campus Clippers provide convenient, direct service throughout the day Monday-Friday, eliminating the need to park on campus, or transfer buses. The Clippers are available during Fall and Spring semesters when SCSU is in session.

• Getting to and from the K and Q Lots and upper campus is easy with the Husky ShuttleDuring the day Monday-Friday it runs every 10 minutes, traveling from Husky Hub, K and Q Lots, up to Shoemaker Hall and around the Science building . Sunday-Thursday evenings it runs every 20 minutes and makes a larger loop to service the other residence halls and Atwood.

• For evening service between campus and the area surrounding campus and across the river, ride the Sundowner. It operates seven days a week during Fall and Spring semesters and departs from the Miller Learning Resources Center every half hour to bring you home. If you are within the Sundowner service area and need a ride to campus, call 249.9600 at least 30 minutes ahead of time.The driver will pick you up at the next available time and bring you to Miller LRC.

Friday and Saturday nights it provides direct service every 20 minutes to K and Q lots for students to get to their cars. Two evening departures seven nights a week cross Highway 10 to areas along 15th Avenue SE & E. St. Germain to Cedar Square Apts. at 11:45 p.m. and 12:15 a.m. 

 

• Late Nite routes provide safe and convenient late night transportation connecting campus to downtown and to some of the highest density student housing areas, primarily along current Clipper Southeast and South routes. This service, paid entirely by students on a credit hour fee, operates Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights during fall and spring semesters. Like all other Metro Bus services, SCSU students and employees only need to swipe their SCSU ID to ride free.


 

 Metro Bus Service at St. Cloud Technical & Community College (SCTCC)

Metro Bus operates four routes that directly serve the SCTCC campus seven days a week, all year round for students, employees and visitors.

SCTCC students are eligible to ride all Metro Bus routes through the U-Pass Free Ride Program by obtaining a pass through the Book Stop on the SCTCC campus.

Metro Bus Service at Minnesota School of Business (MSB)

Metro Bus service is available to the MSB campus by the West Side route seven days a week year round for students, employees and visitors.  MSB students are eligible to ride all Metro Bus routes through the U-Pass Free Ride Program by obtaining a pass through the MSB administration office. 

The West Side Metro Bus stop is located 2 blocks east on 10th Avenue & 1st Street South.  Click on the photo to the right to open a map to the MSB campus.

SCSU, SCTCC & MSB Students Ride Free

Free Ride Logo SCSU and SCTC students currently enrolled and participating in the student activity fee program and SCSU employees and currently enrolled MSB students can ride any Metro Bus route all year for free by swiping their current I.D. or pass through the farebox. The Metro Bus U-Pass Free Ride program allows SCSU, SCTCC and MSB students and SCSU employees to have unlimited fixed route bus service throughout the four city (St. Cloud, Sauk Rapids, Sartell and Waite Park) area.

The U-Pass Free Ride program is paid for by the administrations and students of SCSU, SCTCC, MSB administration, and Metro Bus. Fraudulent use of I.D.’s will be prosecuted. U-Pass Free Ride does not apply to Dial-a-Ride. 

It's easy to get from SCSU to the Twin Cities using public transportation. Northstar Link operates 7 days a week.

 

Step 1: Get to Park and Ride lot. You may have a direct ride from SCSU to the lot, or you may need to ride the University Route to the Transit Center to transfer to the East Side route to bring you to the Northstar Link lot. Click here to view Northstar Link schedule.

Step 2: Ride Northstar Link to Big Lake. Northstar Link is not part of the U-Pass Free ride program and is not a free ride for students.
Fares depend on direction of travel and time of day.

Step 3: Board the Northstar Rail in Big Lake and Ride as far as Minneapolis. Northstar Link and Northstar Line fare systems are not compatible. You will be required to pay the Northstar Line fare at the Big Lake station. Click here for more information.

Step 4: If you want, you can transfer from the commuter rail to the light rail and go to the airport or Mall of America. It's a free transfer from Northstar Rail.

SCSU Routes Operating Times

Campus Clipper, Husky Shuttle, Sundowner and Late Nite routes operate only fall and spring semesters.  These routes do not operate when classes are not in session (except during final exams), New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day.  Operating calendars can be found on all SCSU routes schedules.
